This week we attended the first South West Cutflower Growers meeting held at the rather beautiful ‘Corn Barn’ in Cullompton, mid Devon.
The idea behind the meeting was to connect growers from across the South West in a bid rejuvenate the British flower trade. Its well known that once Uk growers produced more than 80% of the flowers sold here, but after years of cheap imported flowers mostly through Holland that figure now stands at less 20% with the vast majority of British growers going out of business.
Several guest speakers gave us plenty to think about and to talk over. There was also the opportunity to network and to meet other like minded florists and growers.
